PASUNDAN POS | BANDUNG — Acting Governor of West Java Bey Machmudin attended the Familiarization Trip Specialty Coffee and Cacao Buyer Philippines event, which took place at the Bandung Regency Regional Government Hall.
The event was a business watching activity which was held at the official residence of the Regent of Bandung, yesterday.
When met after the event, Bey Machmudin stated that this event aimed to increase the volume of coffee sales to the Philippines, considering the arrival of coffee and chocolate entrepreneurs from the Philippines who were accompanied by the Philippine Ambassador.
"This event was held to increase the volume of coffee sales to the Philippines because there are coffee and chocolate entrepreneurs from the Philippines, who were accompanied by the Ambassador. They are very interested and this is proof that our coffee is very famous," said Bey.
Apart from that, Bey also said that coffee from West Java has been exported to various countries such as Japan, the United States and Malaysia with an export value reaching 780,000 US dollars in the first four months of 2024.
He strongly supports the efforts made by the Department of Industry and Trade and the Bandung Regency Regional Government to increase the volume of coffee exports.
"The coffee is delicious, I was surprised that the turnover was so large from this coffee. They are really focused on developing coffee and cocoa very well," added Bey.
He also highlighted the importance of training for all levels of society, including ASN who are about to retire so that they can participate in the coffee and cocoa industry productively.
Meanwhile, the Regent of Bandung, Dadang Supriatna, thanked the Acting Governor of West Java for his attention and support for the progress of farmer production in Bandung Regency.
"I thank the Governor for paying attention to the progress of Bandung Regency farmers' production," said Dadang Supriatna.
"This time almost 20 buyers came and last night had dinner with the Governor. Hopefully there will really be a market for the products of Bandung Regency farmers," he said.
Dadang also added that Bandung Regency is not only famous for coffee, but also for other commodities such as chocolate, cloves and ginger.
He hopes that with the big data which will be completed in the next two months, farmers' production can be supplied for local, regional, national and export needs.
According to him, the event is also expected to increase the country's foreign exchange and support the growth of MSMEs in West Java as well as have a positive impact on farmers and coffee and cocoa businesses in Bandung Regency.
